The Carnival field is at Wem Sports and Social Club, SY4 5AP. The carnival field will be open to the general public from 11.00am onwards, with admission by gratefully appreciated donations.
The carnival field will be the venue for many of the major events including the crowning of the Carnival Queen, Princesses, Rosebuds and the judging of the Fancy Dress competitions. Also throughout the day, the field will play host to many of the great features and activities that have been planned including:
- RAF Helicopter (circumstances permitting) arriving at 11am
- Clown workshop
- Corner Exotics Animals
- Old fashioned playing Organ
- Climbing Wall
- Wem Scouts Caving system
- Inflatable Noah’s Ark and Land Train rides
- Bubble Football
- Go Karts
- Children’s fun fair rides.
Catering available on the carnival field will including retailers for ice-cream, fresh coffee, teas and cakes, burgers, and fresh donuts.

Between the parades, the arena on the carnival field will host the carnival queen crowning and fancy dress judging, before giving way to several performances from different bands who have participated in the parade, the Taiko Drummers, and dance troupes.
NEWDA’s School of Morris Dances will be performing for their awards all afternoon in the enclosed arena just off of the main field, with free admission to spectate throughout the afternoon.
A full programme of events will be available shortly, but is subject to change, with all performers within the main arena worth watching!

The presentation of Carnival Cups and Trophies will take place after the evening parade in the Sports & Social club, with admission only to those who participate in the carnival parade.
